Fallback
Fallback lets you revert to an alternative algorithm to generate recommendations. In instances, when the selected Algorithm fails to generate recommendations, we enable the ‘Fallback’ effect.
Enabling Fallback, avoids ‘No recommendations’ to the shoppers and presents results by using an alternative algorithm.
NOTE: In case, fallback is not enabled, no alternate algorithm is selected in case of no results.
Create a Fallback Rule
To add a fallback rule follow the mentioned process :
- Within the console, navigate to Algorithms> Custom Algorithms.
- Enable the Fallback button.
- Select the Fallback option from the two available: Algorithms or Product IDs.
- If Algorithms is selected, then, select the algorithm which should generate the recommendation from the drop-down menu. Also, select the number of slots on which the recommendations should appear on. You can add multiple algorithms.
- If PorductIDs is selected, mention the product IDs that you want to display as the recommendations if fallback happens.
- Once done, click Save.
You’ve successfully created the fallback rule.
Edit a Fallback Rule
To modify a fallback rule, edit using the mentioned process :
- Within the console, navigate to Algorithms> Custom Algorithms.
- Select the Fallback option which you need to edit.
- If Algorithms is selected, then, edit the algorithm and select a new one which should generate the recommendation from the drop-down menu. Also, select the number of slots on which the recommendations should appear on. You can edit multiple algorithms.
- If ProductIDs is selected, edit the product IDs that you want to display as the recommendations if fallback happens.
- Once done, click Save.
You’ve successfully edited the fallback rule.
In case, you don’t need the fallback option from an existing algorithm, disable it.
