Query Rules
Query rule, as the name suggests, allows a merchandiser to customize the search results page for a particular query. A query rule is automatically applied when a shopper uses the search query on which rule is defined.
Once you have created a query rule. You must create a campaign associated with the query rule. The definition of Query rule specifies when the rule will be triggered. A campaign associated with the query rule defines the constraints applied to modifying the search results for the query.
Managing Query rules
Query rule allows you to manually customise the sequence of product listing for a particular query. For example, when you want to promote certain products during a specific period, brand, franchise, or category, Query Rule allows you to create a promotional campaign using merchandising options like filtering, slotting, sorting, boosting, and pinning to display specific products in response to a particular search query.

Campaigns
Campaigns are created when as a merchandiser you want certain products from your catalog to be promoted to garner more visibility and revenue. Campaigns allow you to easily create a landing page, or redirect to a brand/category page when shoppers search for a specific product/brand/category. These are created to provide a customized shopping experience based on a query rule.
A single query rule can have multiple non-overlapping active campaigns based on device type. Our systems prevent the creation of two overlapping campaigns. Campaigns can have various states depending on their creation. Once they are created they can either be in draft format, published, active, expired, upcoming, or stopped state.
NOTE: You can restart a campaign that has been stopped. To do this, duplicate the 'stopped' campaign and then restart it.
Campaign States
Campaign State defines the current You can set up the rule so that you can either boost, sort, slot, pin, or filter shoes that you want the shopper to see within the Product Listing Page. When you create a campaign on a query rule, you need to specify the date range of the campaign. The start date launches the campaign and the end date stops it. Even if you are pre-prepared for an upcoming sale, create a campaign and set it for future dates. You can also save your campaign without publishing your campaign (Draft state).
NOTE: A query rule with no active campaign does not influence search results for a query.
Depending on the start and end dates you select, the state of your campaign can be:
- Draft: When the campaign hasn’t been published yet. Default status when creating a new campaign
- Upcoming: When the campaign’s start date is in the future. You can schedule campaigns that start at a specific time in future
- Active: When the campaign has started and has not reached its end date.
- Expired: When the campaign has passed its end date
- Stopped : When an active campaign has been manually stopped prior to expiry date.
